December Moments
Christmas Trees and Football. Two things that December is full of. The month kicked off with both of these in one weekend, the USC v. UCLA game on Saturday and tree trimming on Sunday. My relationship is successful based on the fact that M and I understand what each of these mean to the other.
I watched The Station Agent last night. Half way through I decided I loved it. It is one of those films M calls "slice of life". He is more a beginning, middle, end type. This film was rich in characters, funny, and moving; like a great short story come to life. Why did I wait so long to watch it! Speaking of short stories come to life, I read Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx. (Thanks Julia for the tip on creative Googling to find the story). This is probably one of the best short stories I have ever read. Each word is so precise and the images and characters linger.
This week I have been enjoying some early Christmas presents. A friend gave me Clue; a favorite game from childhood. Wednesday evening was spent with friends engaging in the detective work of whodunit. As a child my siblings got sick of me asking to play Clue, when it was my choice to pick what we played. I was so grateful to friends for humoring me.
Yet another blog that I have read for sometime has turned into a book. This one's a little different. PostSecret Check it out, they post new secrets every Sunday. The book has more than one secret I could have written. I am drawn to the raw humanness of them, well that and I am a bit of a voyeur.
